The opening titles show a fuse being lit with the iconic mission impossible music followed by the names of the cast in a fast sweep across the camera the short space of time this intro has is about 48 seconds it doesn't show much but it does show some future scenes of the film so you know what to expect. The fast pace music and quick cuts tell you that you don't have much time left which adds a tremendous amount of tension to the film and to the characters, the lit fuse could potentially foreshadow one very big event or plot to the film later on in the story the faces that fly by show that the film could be about spies or a police film with a database of names and faces. Tom Cruise's name appears first due to the fact that he is the protagonist of the film so it very fitting.
